Most of the hotels of Koh Samui have a restaurant serving good quality food. And you'll even be able to find real gastronomic restaurants in some of the biggest resorts, which often have a high-class Chef from
abroad in charge of their kitchen. But you can still go outside for dinner to taste the thousands of delicate flavors restaurants Koh Samui can offer. The choice is even harder as there are so many,
so how to not make mistake and get ugly food for outrageous prices ?... That's why we propose you some fine places that did attract our attention as much because of the atmosphere as because of the
quality of the food and the service.
We wish to make clear that we are totally free and absolutely not commissionned to speak about these places in this page.

CHAWENG AND SURROUNDINGS
Our favourite place to eat seafood there is called Chaweng Food Center, in the North of Chaweng, on the road that leads to the main road (Tesco-Lotus), where many small restaurants offer fresh seafood you can choose directly from their stalls, as well as Thai food, BBQ and Lao dishes. Right on the beach, but at the end of Chaweng North, Papillon Resort hosts
Le Café des Arts, where Stéphane and Gilles, will welcome you. In addition to its broad and varied menu (with Seafood, Thai and
French dishes...) the restaurant regularly organizes special events, such as seafood barbecues or Thai buffets whilst dancers perform some traditional Thai dances, making it a delightful experience for the eyes and the palate alike... And what about the famous Pizza, to eat at the table or to take away, we simply recommend you ALLO PIZZA !, a restaurant on Chaweng
main road, barely in front of the post office, they serve delicious pizza. You can make your choice from their extensive menu, including the classic "Margarita" as well as interresting ones like the "white", with sausage and fresh cream (much
tastier than a standard quiche) and the "oriental", with merguez (marocan spicy sausages) ! Moreover, there are two different size, small and big... When you know that the small one can feed 3 persons... We begin mouth-watering when thinking of the big...
As of their name, they also have (real) quick delivery service on Chaweng and even Lamai for some orders.

For a more typical atmosphere, pay a visit to the Laem Din market, located behind the Reggae Pub. There are very good food
stalls offering traditionnal soup in a setting that will change you from the "tourists-only" places and will make you feel like your in Thailand for real ! On the Soï leading the laem din Market to Chaweng beach road, you will find the Swiss Restaurant, you can not mis the swiss flag lightbox. They serve delicious swiss dishes, like "raclette" or "rosties" as well as gorgeous Beef steaks from Thaïland or South America, of course, standard Thai food is alos on the menu.

LAMAI AND SURROUNDINGS
Before Lamai, on the ring road coming from Chaweng, several new restaurants have opened their doors these last years. We recommend there The Cliff, the most famous restaurant in the area. They serve absolutely gorgeous Thai and western cuisine, with a stunning seaview in a modern setting. On Week-end, a DJ comes to play live session in the Lounge area.
At the top North end of the beach, Banana leaf offers a vast choice of Tapas and seafood in a pleasant setting. In Town,
right next to the Bauhaus, the Salathai restaurant (they also have a branch in Chaweng) serves excellent thai food with international classics too, like their stunning sole or mouth-watering chocolate mousse. The setting is very pleasant and it is full every night, a proof of good quality.
If you prefer a cosier and more luxurious environment, with the prices according, you can try the Rocky's, located at the Rocky Resort, you'll have your dinner in a magnificent setting with refined cuisine or try The Patio, at Pavillion
Resort, it is in sublimely mediteranean style, but cheaper than the previous, they have italian and thai cuisine. Apart all these restaurants, there are also many food stalls around and especially in
the night food market, offering various dishes including stunning seafood fresh from the day, to enjoy simply sitting on plastic chairs on the
walkside, while drinking a fresh fruit juice from the neighbouring stall....

MAE NAM, BOPHUT AND BIG BUDDHA
In MAE NAM, restaurants are far less numerous than in Chaweng or Lamai, many travellers there just stay in their bungalows or big
resorts and enjoy their delicious food. On the main road, the most famous address of all for breakfast or any other time of the day sweeties, is Angela's
Bakery, she prepares here breads and pastries since 10 years, and ask around, her club sandwich is a legend among long terms travellers ! Just a few meters away,
Pane e Vino is, as you can expect from its name, an italian restaurant, where you'll enjoy the classic pastas and pizza, but also home made bruscetta and bread, all
washed down with italian wine.
In BOPHUT, the most famous place to go out for dinner is, of course, the Fisherman's village. it's a group of narrow streets, including an amazing sea front, hosting
many small restaurants all as pleasant and good. La Provencale, as an example, serves delicious french bakery and french cuisine. Just by the sea, with a stunning view on Koh Phangan,
you'll find La sirène, where a friendly french-thai team will make everything possible to make your dinner pleasant, serving quality food in a very nice setting. Not
far from there, on the pier, a traditionnal chinese junk, "la fortune", is
waiting for you to weigh anchor and take you to the open sea overlooking Koh Samui, for a lunch or a dinner with special fine culinary themas. If you like to have some bakeries or snacks, head for the French Bakery, opposite the 7-eleven, where you will be able to enjoy delicious
french bakeries and pastries as well as "bistrot snacks".
In BIG BUDDHA (Bangrak), on the road along the beach, seaside, The Elephant & Castle makes excellent "Full English Breakfast" as well as typical british dishes. Try their famous "Sunday Roast", nobody has been disappointed as yet. Few meters further, on the other side of the road, Papa Joe, a very long time running restaurant with its blue lightbox, offers Swiss specialities and Thai food, everything is delicious and refined and served by pretty hostess. A little bit further, on the same side, just before Big Buddha Pier, Le Café de France a traditional french restaurant offers an amazing cuisine, everything is of very high quality, home made with fresh products. The french chef really succeed in preparing some of the most refined french dishes you will find on Koh Samui.
